TPI India Ltd. was incorporated on April 14,1982 as a Private Limited Company by the name of Tarapur  Packaging Industries Pvt.Ltd. and subsequently took over the business of Tarapur packaging Industries.  It was converted into a Public Limited Company on October 22, 1990 and a fresh certificate of Incorporation consequent to change of name  to TPI India Limited was obtained on  October 23, 1990. The Company has been promoted by Shri Hasmukh C.Parekh and his family.   

The Company was incorporated with the object of entering into the fields of manufacture of containers, packages and packaging imaterial. The Company has entered into an agreement with BULK LIFT INTERNATIONAL INC., USA for technical know-how for the manufacture of Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers (FIBC). M/s Bulk Lift International Inc., USA, one of the largest American FIBC manufacturers has 4 plants in USA  and 1 in Jamaica ìand is considered one of the leaders in the field.
