Disclaimer

Banks may levy part-payment or foreclosure fees that are not included here.

The calculation assumes the interest rate remains unchanged for the full modelled period.

Tax impact and lender-specific processing charges are excluded from the estimate.

Frequently asked questions

1. What is the difference between EMI Impact and Tenure Impact?

EMI Impact keeps the original tenure fixed and recalculates the EMI downward after a prepayment. Tenure Impact keeps the EMI fixed and uses the prepayment to close the loan earlier.

2. Does the same prepayment save more under tenure reduction?

Usually yes. Reducing tenure removes future interest-bearing months, so the total saving is often larger than the EMI-reduction path for the same part-payment amount.

3. Why do I enter the outstanding balance and remaining tenure?

The calculator models your loan from today onward, so it needs the balance still outstanding and the months left to run rather than the original sanction terms.

4. What happens if a prepayment is larger than the balance available?

The calculator caps it to the maximum sensible amount for that month so the loan closes cleanly and never goes negative.
