Terai Tea Company, incorporated in 1973, is the flagship company of Terai Group of Companies. At the time of incorporation, the company owned one tea estate namely Bagdogra Tea Estate with an installed capacity of 5 lakh kgs of made tea per annum.

Presently, the group owns seven tea gardens and five bought leaf factories with a combined annual capacity of 15 million kgs of made tea. The units of the group are scattered all over North Bengal around the town of Siliguri.

The company’s shares are listed on Bombay Stock Exchange, Calcutta Stock Exchange, Ahmedabad Stock Exchange and Jaipur Stock Exchange since 1995.

One of the company’s unit is also a government recognized Export House.

The company owns popular brands namely ‘Terai King’ ‘Terai Queen’, ‘Terai Rungneet’, ‘Terai Monarch’ ‘Terai Maharaja’ ‘Terai Snow view’ all over Russia.

The group is also engaged in export of various merchandise to Bangladesh and other Middle East Countries. There are several real estate projects in the town of Siliguri at present.

Terai also has a unique spectrum of offering in not only tea plantations and processing units, but it has also diversified its interest in the fields of tea manufacturing, tea export, garment export, food processing, real estate development, steel industries along with other interest.

The Terai group is in the process of setting up solar power projects at Rajasthan and a jute mill in the out skirts of Kolkata.

Units

• Bagdogra Tea Estate : The tea garden located in Terai region of north Bengal with total area under plantation is 614.86 acres and produces 30 lakh kgs of made tea annually.    
• CTC Tea Factory (Terai Tea Factory Unit) : The company set up this unit in November 1997 with an objective to produce CTC tea from the green leaf purchased from different suppliers. The unit produces 20 lakh kgs of tea annually.
• Green Tea Factory (Sevoke Tea Factory Unit): This unit was commissioned on 14 July, 1999 with the sole object of producing good varieties of green teas from the tender leaves of Darjeeling. The product is being sold in the market at a premium and is widely accepted. The unit is at present producing 5 lakh kgs of premium green tea annually.  
• CTC Tea Factory Unit (Adhikari Tea Factory Unit): This unit was commissioned on 17 February, 2002. The present installed capacity of the unit 25 lakh kgs of CTC tea per annum.
• Karjeepara Tea Factory Unit: This unit is being set up by the company to manufacture CTC teas out of bought leaves. The unit has stated commercial production in July 2003. The installed capacity of the unit is 25 lakh kgs of made tea per annum.

The combined annual production capacity of Terai Tea Company is 10 million kg.
