The name of the company is SIL Investments with effect from March 21, 2007. Originally it was Sutlej Cotton Mills promoted by late G.D. Birla and was named before Demerger of textiles divisions in the year 1995 Sutlej Industries Limited. SIL is part of K.K. Birla group companies who has diversified interest in Fertilisers, Engineering, Textiles, Sugar, Tea, Media, Shipping Food Products, Media, Information Technology, Biotechnology , Shipping among others. The Registered Office of SIL is situated at Bhawanimandi 326 502 (Rajasthan)

As per the Scheme of Demerger sanctioned by the Honourable High Court of Judicature for Rajasthan at Jaipur Bench on 12.05.2006 effective from 01.07.2005 textiles divisions of the Company have been demerged and vested in new company called Sutlej Textiles and Industries Limited as an on-going concern basis and SIL was left with investment activities only. Its core investments are mainly in group companies’ shares, besides in Shares & Securities and Real Estate, the details of same are available in its latest audited Annual Accounts as on 31.03.2009.

The company has two wholly owned Subsidiaries RTM Investment and Trading Co. Ltd. and SCM Investment and Trading Co. which in turn have one subsidiary company each.

During the year 2008-09, SIL has earned income in the form of rent income, dividend income and profit on sale of investments and fixed assets. Company will extend business further through identification of promising investment opportunities.

Company has been granted Certificate of Registration as an NBFC with effect from 22nd  May 2009.
