Sharp Investments was incorporated on November 28, 1977 under the Companies Act, 1956 in the State of West Bengal. The company obtained certificate of Commencement of Business pursuant to Section 149(3) of the Companies Act, 1956 from the Registrar of Companies, West Bengal vide certificate dated January 4, 1978.

The company was formed with an object to carry on the business of investment in shares & securities etc. and obtained registration with RBI as a Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC).

In the year 1999, as a part of corporate restructuring, a scheme of Amalgamation (Amalgamation Scheme-I) was proposed for merger of RGF Builders & Investment (RGFBIPL) and RGF Overseas (RGFOPL) with the company.
