Sharat Industries was incorporated on May 7, 1990 as Sharat Sea Foods in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh and was later converted into a public limited company with effect from April 20, 1992 in terms of special resolution passed on March 9, 1992 u/s 31(1) 44 of the Companies Act, 1956.
In the year 1991, the company began by setting up a pilot project at Venkannapalem Village, Thotapalli Gudur Mandalam, Nellore District, Andhra Pradesh for brackish water prawn culture in 10 hectares of water spread area using indigenously developed technology. In its very first harvest it bagged the Best Performance Award for Semi-Intensive Shrimp Culture in Andhra Pradesh from the Association of Shrimp farmers adjudged by MPEDA for the year 1991-92.
In the year 2000 the company merged Akar Laminators and Vishnu Vijay Packagers with itself.
Business area of the company
The company is engaged in aquaculture project consisting of a hatchery, feed mill, grow-out farm and processing plant, which will produce Individually Quick Frozen (IQF) and other value added products.
