Santosh Fine-Fab was originally incorporated on the October 16, 1981, as Himalaya Silk Mills. The Santosh group took over Himalaya Silk Mills in 1987. The business under the said name was carried on till April 22, 1992, thereafter the name of the company was changed to Santosh Fine-Fab so that it got closely identified with the Santosh Group, which has an established name in the market. Subsequently, the company was converted into a limited company with effect from October 6, 1994 and a fresh certificate of change of name dated October 18, 1994 was obtained from Registrar of Companies, Maharashtra, Bombay.
The company has an existing weaving unit at Plot No. L- 40, MIDC, Tarapur, Dist Thane, with a capacity of 6.88 lakh metres of suiting per annum.
The company was originally promoted by Ramniranjan Kedia, Sureshchand Kedia, Sarda Devi Kedia and Prahladrai Poddar. It was dormant till the take over by the Santosh Group by way of induction of directors on April 10, 1987 and acquisition of shares, which got transferred in the company’s books on April 18, 1987. The company then started operations of the present factory and commercial production was started in July 1988.
In the first year of operations (15 months ended March 1989) the company achieved a net sales of Rs 73.96 lakh on which it incurred a loss of Rs 6.4 lakh.
Business area of the company
Santosh Fine-Fab is engaged in manufactures grey fabrics. The grey fabric is processed, on job work basis, at reputed process houses. The finished cloth is subsequently sold through its dealer network.
