ONGC is one of the largest exploration and production (E&P) Company in India with in-house service capabilities in all the activity areas of exploration and production of oil & gas and related oil-field services. The state-of-the-art technologies inducted and absorbed over the years such as depth domain processing, stratigraphic inversion, advanced volume-based interpretation tools, stochastic lithofacies modeling using neural network, spectral decomposition, geo-statistical modeling, etc.

- Exploration: Since its establishment in 1956, ONGC has been at the forefront of India’s energy security. Being a Maharatna Company, ONGC carries the critical responsibility of discovering, developing and augmenting hydrocarbon reserves which form the backbone of the nation’s energy security. Its exploration operations span over Ultra Deep Water, Deep Water, Shallow Water and Onshore domains, covering a geologically diverse portfolio across the Indian subcontinent.
- Drilling: ONGC’s Drilling Group is at the core of India’s upstream energy sector, delivering integrated drilling, well services, and well stimulation solutions across diverse geological terrains-from onshore basins to offshore deep and ultra-deep waters. In line with its environmental commitment, ONGC implemented Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) in onshore drilling for exploratory wells, ensuring no off-site wastewater discharge.
- Production: Constant efforts by ONGC, one of the leading upstream petroleum companies in India, on the production front have yielded meaningful results. Through Energy Strategy, ONGC has set a target to double its Oil and Gas production from its domestic, as well as overseas fields. ONGC also plans to expand its refining capacity three-fold alongside diversification into renewables.
- Applied R&D and Training: ONGC has taken steps to evaluate various forms of energy to fulfil the country’s growing energy needs. Continuing the efforts to improve oil and gas technology scenario in the country, it has established an ONGC Energy Centre Trust (OECT), which is mandated to undertake or assist in programs/ projects of fundamental and applied research for improving and developing commercially viable energy mediums and sources beyond hydrocarbons, especially in clean and/or renewable energy options.
- Engineering & Construction: Offshore Engineering Services (OES) is a core group of multi-disciplinary engineers in ONGC entrusted with the task of creation of new facilities at Offshore as well as enhancement and revamp of existing facilities. OES provides the following facilities for Exploration and Transportation of Hydrocarbon in Western Offshore.
