Neelamalai Agro Industries was incorporated on April 21, 1943 as a plantation company based in the Nilgiris. The company was earlier known as Neelamalai Tea & Coffee Estate & Industries, it got its present name on November 17, 1986.

Managing its own tea plantations and producing, manufacturing and marketing tea, the company has three tea gardens, namely Katary, Sutton and Bhawani with a total area of about 546 hectares under cultivation. It produces and markets its products in the domestic and overseas markets. Blue Mountain Developments Corporation, a subsidiary in Canada, is involved in the development and construction of residential and commercial premises.

The registered office is located at Katary Estate, Katary Post, Coonoor, Nilgiris 643213, Tamil Nadu.
