NB Footwear was incorporated on September 24, 1987 as a private company and converted into a public company on April 14, 1988. The company is engaged in the manufacture of footwear and is promoted by A L Prasad.

The company has set up a project at Cheduvalai, Vellore in North Arcot District of Tamil Nadu on land measuring 3.35 acres for the manufacture of 3 lakh pairs of full leather shoes/ shoe uppers per annum.

NB Footwear commenced commercial production on June 1, 1989. In order to execute some of the export orders in 1989-90, the company proposed to procure three additional machines from Italy, and West Germany on Deferred Credit Basis. The company has also increased the licensed capacity from 3,00,000 pairs per annum to 20 lakh pairs per annum during 1989-90.

During 2001-2002, the company was declared a sick industrial unit by the Board for Industrial & Financial Reconstruction (BIFR). It is awaiting a favourable disposal of its pending application. Based on the final verdict of BIFR, it will decide on further course of action.
