The company was established in 1976 with the name of Garware-Wall Ropes Ltd. Further, the company officially changed its name to Garware Technical Fibres Limited (GTFL) in April 2018.

• 1976: Technical and financial collaboration with Wall Industries, (USA) (Formation of Garware-Wall Ropes Ltd)
• 1980: Akurdi Factory 8 strand rope machines commissioned.
• 1982: Became the largest in synthetic fishing ropes, heavy marine ropes and fish-net twines in India.
• 1985: Started exporting to Europe 
• 1994: Expanded operation at Wai-Second Manufacturing unit
• 1998: Started the Geosynthetics devision
