The company received the certificate of commencement of business on February 25, 1981. In 2011 the company has changed its name from Empower Industries India Ltd. to Empower India Ltd. "

The company, on June 12, 2010, has received its board’s approval for the fund raising programme by issue of various instruments such as Global Depository Receipts (GDR) / American Depository Receipts (ADR) / Foreign Currency Convertible Bonds (FCCBs) or any other securities convertible into equity shares whether optionally or otherwise up to $20 million.
