The company  was  incorporated  on  November  22,  1983  as  ‘Emerald  Leasing  Finance  and  Investment  Company  Limited’  under  the  Companies  Act,  1956.  The company  got  certificate  of  Commencement  of  Business on December 16, 1983. It is a Non Deposit taking Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC-ND) registered with RBI to carry on  the  NBFI  activities  under  Section  45IA  of  the  Reserve  Bank  of  India  Act,1934. Since 2010, Emerald Leasing finance & Investment Company has offered a spectrum of banking products and financial services to corporate and retail customers through a variety of delivery channels.
